The championships are brought to you by the Nihon Kiin Foundation (Participation is free of charge)

Battle for Recognition

Four games will be played by each participant with stronger players given a handicap to reflect differences in grading. Prizes are awarded for performances. Moreover, proven player(s) will have an exhibition match with the World Computer Go Championship-Gifu Challange 2005 Champion software.
(It is also possible to apply for a grading certificate at only half the normal price. Note that the grading levels only goes up to level 4).
Date: 30 October (Sun) 10am-4pm (Reception from 9:30am)

Introductory Course

A professional Go player will provide some easy to understand instructions on the game of Go and its rules.
Instructor: Hiroyuki Hiroe (Level 9) from the Nihon Kiin Foundation
Date: 30 October (Sun) 10am-12pm (Reception from 9:30am)
Venue: Softopia Japan Center Building

How to Apply
Please send an "Ofuku Hagaki" (return addressed card available from your local post office) with your name, Go level, birthday, gender, phone number and the event which you would like to participate in (i.e. the 'Battle for Recognition' or the 'Introductory Course'. Also please state whether or not you require further information from the Nihon Kiin Foundation regarding the Championships. Please apply by 20th October (Thursday).

Go Strategic Coaching by Nihon Kiin Professional Go Players

On the day, we are taking applications in the "Gokaijo Corner" (Go Playing Corner). Applications and the lottery will be done 10minutes before the games start.
Instructor: Yuki Kato (Level 5) from the Nihon KIin Foundation

1st Game starts from 10:30
2nd Game starts from 13:30

Game Commentary

In the Venue, apart from the showdown between the computers, on a large board projected on a screen there will be easy to understand commentary and explanations on games that were recently played by Go professional players.

Man Vs Computer Exhibition Match

On the same day, superior player(s) from the "Battle of Recognition" and the World Computer Go Tournamount Gifu Challange 2005 Champion software will play an exhibition game.

Game Software Interactive Corner

Have hands on experience with Go software currently on the market from all kinds of sponsoring companies.
Date: 29 October (Sat) and 30 October (Sun)
Venue: Softopia Japan Center Building, Level 3 (inside Sophia Hall in the "Tenji Booths" (Exhibition Booths))

Go-Playing Corner

At invent intervals etc. please feel free to use the boards available. Also Mr. Yuki Kato (Level 5) from the Nihon Kiin Foundation will also be around to provide some handy tips. The Go Playing corner is free of charge.

Tea Ceremony Corner (Green Tea and Japanese Confectionary) (Charge)

The Ogaki-Shogyo Business High School Tea and Flower Arrangement Club will be providing delicious green tea and Japanese Confectionery. Please take the time out and refresh your tired body and minds.
